Role Overview
Simulation at WoRV is not a virtual environment for pretty demos. It is product development infrastructure built to make real-environment testing faster and to iterate on failures more cheaply.
The Simulation Designer converts field edge cases into simulatable scenarios and designs valid tests — not beautiful scenes. This role defines what needs to be validated before real-vehicle testing, systematically structures scenarios, and works to close the sim-to-real gap.
Responsibilities
- Design brownfield environments (farms, ports, construction sites, etc.) as simulation scenarios.
- Analyze real-world failure cases from the field and structure them into reproducible scenarios.
- Systematically define and generate edge cases, rare events, and safety-critical scenarios.
- Design data collection, validation, and reproducible evaluation workflows.
- Participate in building Digital Proving Grounds (DPG) using drone survey data (ODM).
- Participate in scenario design for internal tools such as scenario review tools.
Qualifications
- Ability to logically define and structure simulation or test scenarios
- Python-based automation and scripting ability
- Interest in test design for physical systems such as autonomous driving or robotics
- Experience with game engines (Unreal, Unity, etc.) and 3D tools such as 3ds Max or Blender
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using NVIDIA Isaac Sim / Unreal / Unity or similar simulation environments
- Scenario design experience in autonomous driving or robotics
- Experience with HIL / SIL / replay / scenario generation
- Experience building 3D environments or map authoring
Who We're Looking For
- Someone who views simulation as shipping infrastructure, not research garnish
- Someone who can talk simultaneously with field teams, data teams, control engineers, and AI researchers
