Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical components for robots such as mobile manipulators and grippers
- Design, build, and improve data collection equipment such as UMI rigs
- Integrate hardware including motors, sensors, and electrical systems, and conduct performance tests
- Work with machining and assembly vendors to build and iteratively improve prototypes
- Manage drawings and BOMs and define hardware interfaces with the control and AI teams
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or a related field
- At least N years of experience developing robotics or mechatronics hardware
- 3D CAD design skills using tools such as SolidWorks or CATIA
- Experience setting up and controlling motors and motor drivers
- Hands-on experience from design through prototyping and validation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing robotic hands or grippers
- Experience developing wire- or tendon-driven mechanisms
- Experience implementing mechatronic systems, including electrical circuits, wiring, and communications
- Experience using structural analysis tools such as FEM
- Experience designing for small-batch or mass production (DFM/DFA)
